The pandemic is a hoax

What I mean when I say this to my liberal friends

I live in the city surrounded by liberal Democrats whom I disagree with on most issues. Nearly everyone in my extended family is liberal. About 3/4 of my friends are liberal. Mind you, I used to be ultra-liberal myself. So I try not to bring up politics around them but sometimes I just can’t help myself and I say things like, “Yeah, the pandemic is a hoax.”

Instantly I’m greeted with statements of horror and condemnation. I then explain the short version of what I mean. This eventually calms them down but rumors of my “mental illness” continue to swirl around for a while.

So here’s the short version:

• COVID-19 the virus itself is real.

• The entire government-pharmaceutical company apparatus that has been put in place as well as the arguments and justifications for what is being done about COVID are NOT.

For example, my alma mater, Georgetown University, (which just lost my tiny annual donation, lol) has just announced that it will be going strictly ONLINE for the spring semester. One hundred percent of courses on Zoom for a university that costs roughly $30,000 per semester! This has now become a mass psychosis.

I mean, obviously we should all take the usual pre-Covid precautions most everyone took prior to the pandemic, like staying home when you’re starting to feel ill and possibly contagious. But why the hell is EVERYONE getting tested? I was driving around a few days before Christmas and saw lines running down the block outside multiple clinics throughout Washington, DC. This has done nothing to stop the spread of the virus.

This has become a meaningless measure.

Most importantly, hospitalizations remain low in DC. This is something that not enough people seem to be hearing about as countless are walking around wearing masks all over my neighborhood and, worst of all, masking their children when no one else is around. This is idiocracy.

So, to explain a bit more clearly what I mean, I’m saying that COVID-19, and pretty much all of the policies implemented as a result of the associated pandemic are largely arbitrary, unconstitutional, misguided, and thereby, essentially a HOAX. I’m not saying that there is a literal evil conspiracy across multiple entities (governmental, corporate, intergovernmental, and nonprofit) to harm and control the people. I’m just saying there is something a lot like it, but more of a confluence of interests, going on. Fear is clearly being used to manipulate and control people, deny them rights, and implement some kind of continual testing regimen. It’s not overly heavy-handed in the United States so far, but it seems to be getting there in Europe, New Zealand, and Australia.

A republic requires a great deal of cooperation. So, most Americans are willing to make some sacrifices. But why in January 2022 is COVID-19 still being used as a reason to deny entry into restaurants? This is just another of the insane ways that Democrats, generally, put rules between us. Rather than letting people work things out person to person, Democrats establish more and more bureaucracy.

So the grand hoax is this: GOVERNMENT NEEDS TO MANAGE THIS FOR US. Yes, there are some positive motivations to government’s efforts to encourage vaccines and testing, especially for the subset of Americans that is elderly and/or extremely unhealthy. But the rest of us need to be left to handle this on our own, person to person, family member to family member at this point. Yet the role of government is likely to continue indefinitely.

Below are the sub-hoaxes to the grand hoax in no particular order:

1. YOU NEED TO GET TESTED CONSTANTLY. I get an e-mail EVERY DAY announcing that one of my coworkers tested positive for COVID-19. Now the process is a) get the sniffles, b) dutifully get tested, c) post the fact that you have it on social media. My view is that if you’re not stuck in bed, it’s not that bad. SOMEONE is making a lot of money off of all this testing.

2. THE EMPHASIS ON CASES OVER HOSPITALIZATIONS AND DEATHS. This is finally starting to change as Omicron seems to be 10 times as infectious but also much weaker. Yet oddly, MORE CONTAGIOUS to the vaccinated.

3. CHILDREN NEED TO BE MASKED ALL DAY INCLUDING OUTSIDE. Remember when the cold or flu was just “going around” schools and families got through it? Those days are over. Now it is a newsworthy event. And the damage being done to these kids who improperly wear their masks constantly anyway will be profound. But outside? Come on, let the kids play without masks outside!

4. EMPLOYER VACCINE MANDATES. Unconstitutional and disgraceful. Being used as a tool to purge institutions of rebels and freethinkers.

5. MASK MANDATES. The way people wear masks is a joke. This is best summed up by the baffling episode of the mask-down 50-year-old woman on the brief flight from Tampa to Atlanta screaming to the 80-year-old man behind her to “MASK UP!” and then assaulting him. Why didn’t she drive?

6. VAXPASSES. This is a truly terrible idea that will undoubtedly hurt the poor the most. And the fact that it is being implemented alongside Democrats’ hysterical crying about voter ID laws being the “New Jim Crow” or “Jim Crow on steroids.” Come on.

7. NEAR-TOTAL-SILENCE ABOUT THE PROBLEM OF OBESITY. The food companies have fattened us up and the drug companies are “trying” to fix it for us. Why isn’t anyone talking about this or writing about this?

8. NEAR-TOTAL-SILENCE ABOUT SEASONALITY. As Alex Berenson likes to say, “virus gonna virus.” In other words, these ups and downs of cases are generally a function of seasonality. Maybe there are some things that can be done to curb the spread but at what cost? Why isn’t this acknowledged or discussed more? This is a large country with vastly different weather.

9. THE IDEA THAT EVERYONE IS EQUALLY SUSCEPTIBLE. This continues to be pushed by Fauci much like his laughable statements about HIV in the 1980s.

Just off the top of my head. There are many more sub-hoaxes including that Omicron is bad news. Omicron seems to be the end of this thing!

However, the harm has been incalculable. Loneliness, drug and alcohol abuse, suicide, self-harm, purposelessness, and crime of all kinds have devastated the American people. And yet, the authoritarians double down with their vaccines and masks and rules and punishments.

This thing is a hoax to take power away from individuals and hand it to institutions.
